Richard J. Abt counsels companies on various matters including, corporate and tax issues in mergers and acquisitions, real estate, general tax questions and corporate finance. He guides them on following tax procedures for a reorganization and recommends strategies that are most beneficial from a tax perspective.
Richard’s background in business provide him unique insight into what is most important to his clients, allowing him to advise public and private corporations while keeping strategic planning in focus.
Recognized as a standout in his field, Richard is AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell. He is a thought leader in the industry, having written articles and appeared on panels on a variety of tax issues.
Richard has assisted REITs and master limited partnerships on tax compliance issues. He also oversees quarterly tax tests and works closely with accounting and tax personnel. In addition, Richard handles private rulings from the IRS.
Richard also has experience structuring and preparing documentation for leveraged leasing transactions, syndications and public offerings.
While in law school, Richard served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
